The movie takes place in an alternate world Egypt, where the world is flat and gods live among mortal humans. The Egyptian pantheon is great from humans by their greater height, golden blood, and ability to metamorphose into animal-headed gods forms.
After a kingdom of peace, king Osiris turns over the kingship to his son Horus, with the farmer couple Bek and Zaya among the rush at the enthronement. However, during the ceremony Osiris is killed by his jealous brother Set, who grab the throne and announce himself as a new regime where the dead will have to pay with treasure to pass into the afterlife. Horus duels Set in deity form but is defeat, and during the chaos, Bek is divided from Zaya. Horus lover Hathor begs for her life, so Set be accumulated for tearing out Horus eyes, which are the origin of his strength, and drive away him to the steppe.
A year pass away, during which Set marries Hathor and commissions a grand pyramid tower to be built in honor of his father Ra. Bek has found Zaya among the slaves building the cairn, under the authority of the chief architect Urshu. Believing that Horus is the only one who can defeat Set, she takes floorplans from Urshu's library which helps Bek in stealing one of Horus' eyes from Set's concave. However, Urshu finds out about their stealing and fatally hurt Zaya as the couple slip away. Bek appear at Horus' prison, where he makes a agreement with the blinded god: one of his eyes and Bek's acquaintance of how to get into Set's tower in exchange for Horus bringing Zaya back from the dead, before her soul reaches the gate to the afterlife where she'll have no riches to pay. Horus agrees, though not telling Bek that he cannot revitalize the dead.
With only a single eye, Horus can not accept god form. He and Bek tour to a hill shrine to Ra to defend himsself for his aid, Ra transit them to his heavenly ewer above the world. Horus is incapable to convince Ra to regrant him his strength in full or fail to interpose and ruin Set himself, as Ra is both impartial about their Fight and daily at war with an plenty of shadow brute, Apophis, that frighten to consume the warth. Nevertheless, Horus achieve heavenly waters from Ra's vessel, which would weaken Set if poured in his monastery of everlasting fire.
